Anti-Wrinkle Treatments
Botulinum toxin injections are more commonly known as botox ®. These injections into the muscles of expression in the face will reduce the strength of contraction of those muscles and thereby reducing the skin creases they create. These are the skin creases that you can see most commonly in areas such as the forehead, the brow and the eye area.
We offer many non-injectable anti-wrinkle treatment alternatives that can be discussed at consultation.
In Extensa Clinic we mainly use Botox (reg mark) by Allergan, due to the greater amount of clinical evidence and safety profile data available. We also have other anti-wrinkle treatments available for those patients that experience a drop in efficacy due to resistance.
What happens in an anti-wrinkle consultation?
The way the treatment is performed will be explained to you. A series of injections will be administered using a very fine needle into the areas discussed and identified as requiring treatment. The procedure itself will take around 10-15 minutes, with minimal pain and discomfort. There may be small swellings at the injection sites that will disappear shortly afterwards.

What can I expect after having anti-wrinkle treatments ?
The effect of the anti-wrinkle treatments does not commence for a few days and often its around between 3 and 7 days before you see the muscle activity of your face decreasing and the lines diminishing accordingly.
The treatment should be lasting for around 3 to 4 months, perhaps a little less on the first occasion that you have the treatment.
Ultimately, it is to make you look several years younger and to take away lines that can contribute to a negative, more aged expression. As the botox wears off, the lines shall return.
